Sound of the Dessert

So for this week, i had a really weird drama binge. I watched the Sound of the Dessert 风中奇缘, a chinese fantasy historical drama. Its a show that was aired on 2014 and I watched it mainly because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ost. The songs are one of the best, I just keep it on replay all day.I attached my favorite here. Its called 为你平定的天下. The world I calm for you. Its a really sad song. (But I like it)

Brief overview of the drama: It talks about an orphan girl Xin Yue, who grew up with the wolfs (she grew up with some hans in the middle, but went back to the wolfs) and met both Mo Xun ( more known as Jiu Ye) and and Wei Wu Ji (General Wei). The story is about them falling in love. Brief outline is that Xin Yue loves Mo Xun, but due to Mo Xun disabilities and his responsibility he is afraid and refused Xin Yue, leaving a broken hearted Xin Yue. All the while Wei Wu Ji loves Xin Yue, so he jumps at the chance to get the girl when she was broken hearted. The story gets a little messy when Mo Xun decided to chase Xin Yue. But Xin Yue already love General Wei and became his woman.
(Basically that is the whole romance, I skipped out on the politics, which is a huge chunk, but I'm not a big fan of politics)

What so awesome about it: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the songs. (Even if you don't watch the show listen to the songs!!) they are pretty good. And I love fantasy historical drama. (some that I watched and I also loved, Scarlet heart, Prince of Lan Ling, Moon that embraces the Sun, and many many more). I love the details of the clothes, the colour and vibrancy. One of the most I like about historical drama about romance is the emphasis they placed on every interaction between the man and the woman. It makes every touch more meaningful, even when they are together already. Since I understand the language, the formality of speech also emphasizes relationship. So there, I am a big fan of pretty historical dramas (but it always have a big portion of politics which I HATE)

Its a drama about making choices, whether one should have revenge or let go. The parallel was drawn very well comparing Qin Xiang who decided to climb up the ranks by all means to let her son be the crown prince as a revenge for her parents, giving up at the chance of true love, losing herself in the game of revenge. Comparing with Xin Yue who decided to let go and pursue her love. There is also the comparison of Mo Xun and General Wei, the former who gave up love because of fears (and lost it) and the later who overcame fear and chased after love. Life is a choice during the opportunities, a gain or lost.

On the actors, Everyone is so pretty and handsome. Hu Ge (acted as Mo Xun) and Eddie Pang (acted as General Wei) are both so handsome and Liu Shi shi is so cute in the show. Their acting are all reallly really good. I really enjoyed Hu Ge's acting the most, even though in the drama he has one of the least amount of words, his eyes says it all, whether he sad, in pain or happy. The power of the LOOK, like he is so far away. Here have my heart, don't look so sad.

Recommends: If you have a lot of time, it is 36 episodes. Despite the awesome romance, there is still a significant amount of politics involved. The lyrics of the songs means so much more after the show.

I Just realised Hu Ge sang this song, HE SINGS TOO, HE DESERVES THE GAL

Ranting on: I rated this drama purely on their romance, I fast forwarded or skipped anything to do with the political fights. {SPOILERS AHEAD} Why did Mo Xun Not get the girl??? WHY??? I wanna whacked the writer to change the ending. Mo Xun is your typical daddy Long legs at the half-way mark of the drama. And he doesn't even get the girl why why why??? My ship just sank. I didn't care by the end of the drama the general had to die for Mo Xun to get the girl, HE TOTALLY DESERVES HER. He is already a cripple and really really loves her. (or maybe Hu Ge is a better actor)The way he looks at Xin Yue, argh noooo, my heart just breaks EVERY SINGLE TIME  she goes back to the general, which in my HUMBLE option no way deserve her as much. (I admit I have really bad 2nd lead syndrome) *pouts* I don't really watch Chinese dramas because the lip-syncing gets to me at times, but there are always exception.

Here is a picture of Mo Xun, Here have my heart.
