I love this type of drama where it the male lead is the rich and powerful, and the Female lead is a damsel in distress. And this drama just brings it onto another level being the Heavenly gods and goddess, and that things happens in tens of thousands of years. And Deng Lun is super cute and adorable.
Brief overview of the drama:
Jin Mi (portrayed by Yang Zi) was given the Yun pill since birth to stop her from understanding love. Then she met her one true love -- Xu Feng (portrayed by Deng Lun). They fell in love, but she don't know it. Then compiled with revenge for each other's parents deaths and many misunderstandings (due to annoying side characters), this pair of lover has to go through many trials and tribulations to finally be with each other.
What so awesome about the drama (BIG SPOILERS AHEAD ):
Deng Lun has the best and most awesome smile that will take your breathe away.
Xu Feng has the cutest and most innocent smile. So from the part where he lands in the flower realm and brings Jin Mi out to spending 100 years together at his palace in the heavenly realm was the part where he was falling in love. It was super cute to see him, do all sorts of things to ensure that she stays by his side, such as teaching her spiritual skills to up her levels and then punishing her when she does badly. To bringing her along to fight the Qi Yuan monster knowing that she will be a burden, but wanting her to be next to him. To making sure that she stays as a male so that other gods cannot see her as a potential partner, making sure that no one mistakes her as a male when just 1 female fairy proclaims her love to "him".
And when they finally fell in love in the human realm. It was the sweetest scenes. You can tell that he is falling in love. From being cautious to pretending to be mute and deaf just to stay beside her quietly. When Xu Feng finally kissed Jin Mi behind the screen, I think my brains and heart squealed so hard and kept repeating the scene. And you can see the joy of Xu Feng from HIS EYES how much he loved her. And the way his eyes open and the smile he had when Jin Mi agreed to marry him instead of Run Yu. And that they decided to have ahem ahem under the phoenix flowers.
And the final part after Jin Mi died, it was so heart-wrenching. He really nailed it on the scene where she came back for the split second and he cried when he was so happy that she came back, to the next moment where he is begging her not to go. You could see the happiness and desperation in his tears.
Xu Feng's love for Jin Mi carried the show.
Secondly, the props, costume and scenes were GORGEOUS. The settings were all very grandiose and befitting the whole seriousness of the drama. The CG was pretty well done too. The costumes really reflected the portrayal of the character. Like the colour for Run Yu clothings morph to have more silver and gold when he became evil. And the clothes for the Xu Feng was so telling of his current situation. I would think he has the most number of costumes as he changes from Fire God to human to human king to demon lord and all of them are soooo different. And the props were very well made and doesn't look flimsy at all.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first 75% of the drama where before Xu Feng get killed and Jin Mi tries all means to save Xu Feng which ends up with a very depressed Run Yu (portrayed by Leo Luo). I loved all the hijinks of Jin Mi not knowing what love is. Which resulted in some of the most hilarious misunderstandings only to inflate the ego of Xu Feng, and to leave him deflated. And I really loved the writing of the dialogues of these characters. The double meanings of some of the conversations were the most hilarious thus one's Mandrian will improve by leaps and bounds after this drama.
Interestingly, when I started this show, the actor I only knew was Leo Luo from Love is sweet. So I was paying more attention to his role. Which was quite different from his previous project that I know him. I have a love-hate feeling towards his role. I really could understand all his actions and plans. From the start where he was nice and just wanted to support his brother, all the way to when his birth mother died in his arms and he decided to fight with everything he had to protect the one girl he loved. Even I would make the same decisions as him and his eyes really tells stories. But he had to steal Jin Mi from Xu Feng, so there. There ends my love for him and I hate that he has a really really really small waist. Even smaller than mine.
Ranting:
Ermmmm you can probably tell I am not interested in the rest of the storyline and side characters, the politics and hate was just too annoying to me as it was just the Heavenly King's fault for being such a Jerk. And everyone else is just a product of him being a jerk. From forsaking you loved one to signing deals with the demons. I don't know why he deserve to be the stupid king.
Also this show is very similar to Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom, the feel of the drama, and if you count, both Xu Feng -- Fire God, Human and Demon Lord; Jin Mi -- Flower God/ Grape Fairy/ water God, Human and water God (after reviving from the sacrifice) have 3 lives too. So the story concept didn't feel very refreshing to me.

PS. I am a huge converted Deng Lun fan now. And will be watching the Great escape, just because he is in it.
